The first cinematic trailer has arrived for Call of Duty: Vanguard and the upcoming season of Warzone 4. The new season of content is called Mercenaries of Fortune, which seems to be themed around the Vanguard friendlies fighting for gold.
The Season 4 intro trailer shows a helicopter crashing onto a lush island, which is likely supposed to be the Cauldron of Warzone. Captain Butcher runs through the jungle to reach the crash site, but is met by Lieutenant Arthur Kingsley. Once allied in Vanguard, the two men appear to be split for Season 4 as both squads fight over the mound of gold spilled from the helicopter crash site.
Cinematic intro trailers often feature a season’s new set of operators, but we don’t have any voiceover for this intro to confirm the name of the next Vanguard Task Force team. Arthur is partnered with Lewis, Anna, and Florence from previous seasons, so the two men paired with Butcher are likely to be the newest operators on the Season 4 Task Force.
Huge fortune can easily turn allies into enemies, but it’s unclear what this fight means for the future of Vanguard’s narrative. Hopefully we’ll know more when the Mercenaries of Fortune update arrives on June 22nd.
On the Warzone side, Activision revealed that major map changes are coming to Caldera, while a new Fortune’s Keep Resurgence map is also coming with the major update. For more on what to expect from the new season, check out everything we know about Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard Season 4.
