Warzone game mode allows players to become zombies

With the upcoming release of Season 4 Reloaded, Call of Duty: Warzone will see the return of a limited-time zombie-themed mode.

Season 4 Reloaded is coming for fans of Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Warzone. Set to bring a bunch of new content and changes to multiplayer and battle royale experiences, Activision is excited to return Zombies to Call of Duty: Warzone. However, this time around, it will come with some new quality of life and gameplay changes when the limited-time mode launches later this week.

Fans of War zone Know that this is not the first time zombies have invaded the battle royale. Originally introduced in the Haunting of Verdansk Halloween event, Zombies Royale puts players in a zombie-themed version of Resurgence mode. When a player dies, instead of heading to the Gulag, they respawn as a zombie with enhanced abilities such as increased speed, improved jumping, deadlier melee attacks, and thermal vision. If a zombie kills a player and collects two syringes dropped by downed players, they convert back to humans with their loadout.

When the event returns, it will take over Rebirth Island and be renamed to Rebirth of the Dead, with up to 40 players dropping in solo or Quads mode. The previous requirement of two syringes to convert back into an Operator has been increased to four, however, syringes can now be found in Supply Crates, Medical Supplies and Shopping Stations with Zombies now with the ability to open Supply Crates. Zombies will still receive two syringes if they kill a human, but performing a finisher on a downed player automatically grants them four syringes.

New to the experience is the Infestation mechanic, and as the name implies, a horde of zombies will randomly appear to attack players during the match, similar to the classic Zombies experience. Rebirth of the Dead will have a HUD feature that indicates when this event occurs, as an infestation gauge fills up when zombies are killed. At the start of each Infestation event, all zombie-controlled players that were killed will respawn.

In addition to the quality of life and gameplay changes, Activision confirms that the scares from previous Zombies events have been removed to ensure the easily frightened don’t get sick. Winning a Rebirth of the Dead match will grant players a “Last Alive” animated calling card.

Rebirth of the Dead takes over Rebirth Island on July 27 and will be a limited time mode. The end date has yet to be shared, so make sure you get in as soon as possible and conquer the zombie hordes.

Call of Duty: Warzone is now available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
